Beef Bourguignon

“Julie & Julia”, one of my favorite food-related movies. After watching this movie I knew I needed to buy a Julia’s Child cookbook. So I did, and this is the first recipe I tried, the Beef Bourguignon. Now I don’t do it exactly like hers, but it is close.

Hope you enjoy!

Ingredients (for 6 people):
1/4 cup of diced bacon
olive oil
3 lbs of lean stewing beef cut into 2 to 3 inch chunks
1 large onion
2 garlic cloves
1 medium tomato (diced)
2 tbsp of sweet pepper paste
1 sprig of rosemary
1 bay leaf
salt & black pepper
3 cups of red wine
1 1/2 cup of beef stock
3 medium-sized carrots

Ingredientes em Português (para 5 pessoas):
1/4 copo de bacon picado
3 kg de carne para estufar magra, cortada em pedaços de 5 cm.
1 cebola grande
2 dentes de alho
1 tomate médio (picado)
2 colheres de sopa de pasta de pimentão
1 raminho de alecrim
1 folha de louro
sal e pimenta preta
3 copos de vinho tinto
1 1/2 copo de caldo de carne
3 cenouras médias
