Bolo Rei (The King’s Cake) is a must-have in any Portuguese Christmas, I personally not a fan of the candied fruit, but everyone in my family loves it. This year I decided to bake our own. This recipe is from a very well-known Portuguese’s cook, she is known as the Portuguese Julia Child, Maria de Lourdes Modesto.
Ingredients:
750 g flour
30 g baker’s yeast
150g of butter
150g sugar
150 g of candied fruits
150g dried fruit
4 eggs
1 lemon
1 orange
1 dl port wine
1 tablespoon of salt

1 limão
1 laranja
1 dl vinho do porto
