Alheiras – ‘is a type of Portuguese sausage, made with meats other than pork (usually veal, duck, chicken, quail or rabbit) and bread.’ So imagine this goodness rolled in another goodness like puff pastry, savory explosion! Depending on the amount of fat that your alheira has, your alheira rolls will be dry or moist. Either way, you will have a punch of smoky flavor.
Where to buy them? Any Portuguese butcher you will definitely find them!
Tip: Ask for Alheira from Mirandela, those are considered the best alherias.
Ingredients:
2 sheets of puff pastry (10 x 10 inch)
2 alheiras
Note: on the video, you see 3 alheiras, and I only mention 2, the reason is I thought that I would need the 3rd one, but it’s not necessary. 2 is more than enough for 2 sheets of pastry.
